Haley Atwell says Agent Carter was Almost Renewed and Still Might come back

Haley Atwell said she is not ruling out coming back as Peggy Carter, CBR reports. She also said that Agent Carter was close to being renewed. She stated that she doesn't feel she really said "goodbye" to character.

Atwell stated that Peggy still lives on for a lot a fans. "Marvel is still such a big part of my career, especially my professional family, that I would absolutely not rule out the idea of going back to Peggy at some point, seeing her in other avenues," Atwell said. "I love her, and I hope that she has a life elsewhere at another time."

Atwell talked about the point in her life where Agent Carter's fate was uncertain. "It was always one of those much-loved but kind of little places that it had in the world of ABC, and it was very much up in the air. I kind of was able to let that go. I'm quite good at letting go of that which is not in my control."

She said when she got the offer to act in the Conviction pilot (the show she is currently acting in), ABC told her "Well, this is not where we're cancelling Agent Carter. This is a great new project. We really want you in the center of it. We want to see if it's going to go."

There was talk of an Agent Carter special at this time. Atwell felt if the series had moved foward "they would have figured something out in terms of making a special, or waiting until we finish this season, and then we do something else with another network, perhaps."

Atwell would like for a special to still be on the table for Agent Carter and would be eager to return. She says she has "hounded" the Marvel Studios co-president Louis Esposito for an Agent Carter movie. She concludes "I think the great thing about Peggy is, we know from Captain America: The Winter Soldier that she lives a long life, so she can come back. I'm banking on, when I'm in my fifties, I'm like, "This is the time. Let's see what Peggy's up to in this decade."

It would certainly be nice to see Atwell coming back as Peggy in any capacity. What do you think? Would you like to see more Agent Carter?
