HBO Planning To Start Game Of Thrones Spinoffs With Big Budget

Game of Thrones might be coming to an end with its eighth and final season premiering next year, but HBO is working on a few spinoffs based on the fantasy epic and it looks like the network is sparing no expense.

HBO's been expressing excitement over the Game of Thrones spinoffs for quite some time, and while there's been little information on what the spinoff series might cover, the network's executives told INTV Conference (via Deadline) that viewers ought to expect quality TV shows with great budget.

Apparently the network is currently developing somewhere between three to five spinoffs and is facing sort of a "conundrum" with what kind of budget it starts out with if it does green light one of the shows.

"There is a conundrum if we do take off on one of these Game of Thrones spin-offs, where do we start? We can't obviously start with the budget of season 8 but would it be a Game of Thrones season three budget?" HBO drama chief Fracesca Orsi explained.

"When we were in Belfast in October, Casey said ‘it feels like corporate malfeasance' to not continue it, which is why it's spawned three, four, five Game of Thrones spin offs," she added.

Game of Thrones is one of televisions biggest shows, and HBO wouldn't want to really let go of that success even after the series comes to an end. It would be a waste for the network to just let go of the show's viewership just like that without experimenting on a few spinoffs.

Game of Thrones season 8 makes its big premiere sometime in 2019.
