Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Director Gives New Clue to Stallone’s Character

When you've showcased one of the biggest reveals by pretty much announcing the role a new actor is portraying, you'd think it'd be hard to have a follow-up soundbite.

Apparently, this isn't the case with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Eyes and ears have now turned to Sylvester Stallone, who will have a mystery role in the sequel. This has become the new fount of rumors and speculations for fans.

The common and common sense assumption is that this won't be as major a role as say Kurt Russell's role as Ego, Peter "Star-Lord" Quill's father. What's even louder now among fans' speculation circles is the addition of Michael Rosenbaum, the Smallville alum and clearly not one to veer away from superhero roles (The Flash's voice, anyone?).

While he didn't exactly reveal a lot, director James Gunn did hint that fans still have a chance to figure out what his role is in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 weeks before the movie comes out in theaters.

A recent interview with Yahoo! Movies revealed that Gunn was not in the mood to give any more hints at what Stallone will be in the movie. but he did drop what you could call breadcrumbs along the way.

"I think people will find out very, very soon. Look for clues and you will find out the character Sylvester Stallone plays. He is fantastic in the movie. It's a very important part of the Marvel cosmic universe."

Yeah, that's about as far as Gunn is willing to go—so you can bet how many fans will keep repeating the latest teaser trailer, no?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be out in theaters on May 5.
