Guardians of the Galaxy Director James Gunn Says 'The Story and End Credits' Are All His

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is almost done filming, and director James Gunn has been sharing updates about his experience shooting the film on his social media pages, teasing us hints in various storyboards and images.

After Gunn shared a live video on Facebook of him talking about rewarding the cast and crew with Play-Doh for doing exemplary work, a fan asked on the comments section: "How far ahead of time does Marvel communicate their ideas for the direction of the movie and how much input do they give concerning the mid-credits scenes?"

Gunn's answer: "The story and end credit scenes are all mine. Marvel okays everything of course but the ideas are from me. I've never been given some plot point I have to fit into the movie."

The end credits scene in Thor: The Dark World introduced the Collector to the Marvel cinematic universe, but his sequences have been in question in the past. Here's what the Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor said about Gun's mid-credit sequence: "It's a different tone. I would have shot it differently. But I think it's cool that it reaches out and touches that other universe. That universe is coming. The Guardians universe is really cool and wacky… but that sequence in the credits, I would say, is the only part of the movie where I'm happy to give the credit away…"

In the video, Gunn also announced a raffle for an autographed photo of the cast and a grey cap with Baby Groot's face on the front and the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 title on the back that only members of the cast and crew would receive. You can enter the raffle by donating $5 to the Rainforest Trust.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to release in theaters on May 5, 2017.
