Guardians of The Galaxy To Have Rivalry With Avengers In Infinity War

It looks like there's going to be some significant distinction between the Guardians and the rest of Marvels Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War. Though many expected the group of cosmic thugs-turned-heroes to appear on Earth and join the Avenger's fray against Josh Brolin's Mad Titan, Thanos, it seems like the Guardian's first meeting with the other Marvel superheroes will be in space.

An interview Gamora star Zoe Saldana and the rest of the Guardians on Fandango reveals what it would be like when the Guardians first meet the earth's Avengers in Infinity War.

"We were so cocky," Saldana admitted. "We're the Guardians of the Galaxy!

"When we come onto set as the Guardians, we are the Guardians," Drax actor Dave Bautista explained. "Anybody stepping onto set with us has to deal with all of us. There are usually one or two Avengers. We are the Guardians, we come as that and carry a scene like that and we do business as usual, which is a lot of chemistry, a lot of interaction amongst ourselves. And the Russos were very encouraging of that. I think we've established ourselves and we deserve to be right up there with the Avengers. I think we're just as strong, if not stronger, as a unit, ‘cause we're a family."

"We're also in space, so we're not being held by gravity," Saldana added. "And you know we're stronger."

This distinction between the two groups is pretty understandable. The introduction of so many superheroes and their egos is a difficult matter and it's likely that at some point there might even be some sort of clash between the two teams as they try to deal with Thanos. It's natural that the Guardians might be hesitant to get along with the Avengers at the start – what matters is that they all settle their problems at the end of the film and try to find a way to deal with Thanos together.

The Guardians are to appear on the big screen a bit earlier in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which premieres on May 5, 2017. Avengers: Infinity War releases on May 4, 2018 while its untitled sequel premieres on May 3, 2019.
