Gravity Falls Creator Alex Hirsch Signs Deal with Netflix

Netflix has given creative opportunities for artists from David Fincher to Matt Groening, and now they're adding one more to their roster—Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch.

According to Variety, Hirsch has signed a deal with Netflix to exclusively develop new series and features for the streaming giant. Hirsh jokes about getting the job:

"I couldn't be more excited to join the amazing roster of talent coming to Netflix… Plus it couldn't hurt to be on The Algorithm's good side before The Singularity hits. Awesome things are coming!"

On a more serious note, Netflix's VP of original content Cindy Holland had this to say about Hirsch's involvement:

"Alex is an imaginative storyteller with new ideas who's quickly developed a reputation as a fresh new voice in animation… We couldn't be more excited to work with him as we continue expanding our adult animated slate."

Hirsch had developed Gravity Falls for Disney Channel, and though the series had ended back in 2016, the show has managed to gain a cult status on the internet. Aside from being child-friendly, the show was able to present some great storytelling, topnotch animation, and fantastic humor.

Not to mention all the adult jokes that flew over the kids' heads.

We don't know what kind of show Hirsch is preparing for Netflix as of now, but hopefully we get an announcement before the year ends.
