Grand Admiral Thrawn Surrounds Himself With Death Troopers in Star Wars Rebels

Star Wars Rebels has just rolled out a trailer, which gave fans a glimpse of Saw Gerrera. In addition, fans also saw the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Now, looking at the trailer, Comicbook.com pointed out that fans also get a sneak peek. This time, it calls back to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. That's because Death Troopers are actually seen in the trailer.

Specifically, Grand Admiral Thrawn, is the one in the middle which we can assume means that he is being protected by these elite forces from the Imperial military. For those who have seen Rogue One, the Death Troopers were actually protecting Director Orson Krennic, as he held a big role in the weapons development for the Empire.

This little fact doesn't only give Grand Admiral Thrawn another layer in the story, but it also spells a little more doom the Rebel forces. Again, harking back to what had happened to the rebels in Rogue One, the presence of the Death Troopers may actually add a deeper meaning to their moniker.

While the lore won't extend beyond the fact that these particular Death Troopers are still human that are a lot stronger and deadlier, the Rebel Alliance members are still pretty much in dire situations.

Star Wars Rebels will air on Disney XD come Jan. 7. It will premiere with a two-part episode that will already see Saw Gerera, portrayed by Forest Whitaker in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
