God of War Director Shares New Details About The Old Live-Action Star Wars Series

Back from 2005 to 2012, every couple of months there would be a fresh story about the Star Wars Live Action Series, with the working title Star Wars: Underworld, that George Lucas was developing. Yet the series was never made despite over two seasons of scripts were written The series would have resolved ties to the Star Wars 1313 video game that was set in the same time period and was cancelled following the purchase of Lucasfilm to Disney. Cory Barlog, one of the people who worked on 1313 and saw the scripts, talked with Venture Beat about his time working on the series and shared some details about it.

Here's what Balrog said:

"It was the most mind-blowing thing I'd ever experienced. I cared about the Emperor. They made the Emperor a sympathetic figure who was wronged by this f***ing heartless woman. She's this hardcore gangster, and she just totally destroyed him as a person. I almost cried while reading this. This is the Emperor, the lightning out of the fingers Emperor. That's something magical. The writers who worked on that, guys from The Shield and 24, these were excellent writers."

I would love to see that version of the story, and I hope that Lucasfilm will consider reviving this idea that would show us a completely different side to the Emperor.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy stated back during the promotion for The Force Awakens that they were still considering developing the scripts Lucas produced.
