George R.R. Martin on 'Winds of Winters' Release Date

George R.R. Martin's sixth book of the Song of Ice and Fire series, The Winds of Winter, iscoming,but when the Guardian claimed that Martin's publisher,Jane Johnson, has confirmed that the highly-anticipated sequel won't be released this year, fans across the world moaned with impatience. Of course, with this kind of news, the wording became hazy and incorrect facts were reported. What Jane Johnson actually meant, was that The Winds of Winter was not currently on the schedule for 2015. Now The Wall Street Journalhas reported that Martin himself has commented on the report.

The Wall Street Journal included a quote they said was from George R R Martin's Not a Blog:

"I certainly hope that THE WINDS OF WINTER is not on the

schedule of ANY of my publishers. I have spent years trying

to persuade them all not to schedule my books until they are

completed and delivered. Scheduling, and then having to

reschedule and postpone, just pisses people off. I'd rather not

schedule at all until the date is real and certain."

So does that mean that there's still a possibility that

The Winds of Winter

will be released this year? Fans of the Song of Ice and Fire series will have to take Martin's other thoughts about the matter:

"I don't play games with news about the books. I know how many people are waiting, how long they have been waiting, how anxious they are. I am still working on WINDS. When it's done, I will announce it here. There won't be any clues to decipher, any codes or hidden meanings, the announcement will be straightforward and to the point. I won't time it to coincide with Xmas or Valentine's Day or Lincoln's Birthday, the book will not rise from the dead with Jesus on Easter Sunday. When it is done, I will say that's it is done, on whatever day I happen to finish."

"I don't know how I can make it any clearer."
