Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was a huge hit, and to promote the movie's release on Blu-Ray, director Gareth Edwards has posted up an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit which has led to some fun answers — one of which is which characters Edwards would love to do a spin-off movie with.

Seeing that Lucasfilm already has a set of movies planned for the next decade, it won't really be top priority for the company to make films focused on these characters, but not to worry — that's what the expanded universe is for!
The Galen x Krennic story has actually been covered in the Rogue One prequel novel Catalyst, and it focuses on Galen and Krennic's journey toward the construction of the Death Star. In it, we get to revisit places from the prequels like Geonosis and Coruscant, and learn more about Kyber crystals, the source of the Death Star's power.
Baze and Chirrut are also very welcome to have their own comic series, or even have an appearance in Star Wars Rebels. I think it would be tricky to cover an entire movie based on those two alone, seeing as they lived and died in one movie. It would be nice to see them cameo in other series, since they were some pretty solid characters — looking at you Star Wars Rebels. Make it happen.
Edwards also takes time to answer loads of other questions like, "Would you rather fight a Godzilla sized Darth Vader, or a Darth Vader sized Godzilla?" To which he answers, "It's got to be a Godzilla sized Darth Vader... in fact, that visual is probably the coolest thing anyone could ever put in a movie... Will keep my fingers crossed for this after the Han Solo spin-off!"
