Game of Thrones Showrunners Still Undecided on Season 8 Length

Casey Bloys, HBO's president of programming, says that the length of the eighth season of Game of Thrones is still up in the air. Previous reports had this final season wrapping up the saga in just short but intense six episodes. However, Bloys reveals that showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the dynamic duo behind the phenomenal success of the fantasy epic on TV, are still weighing their options. They're still firming up in their minds - and presumably, in their scripts - the highly-anticipated conclusion to a storyline that has kept fans guessing. In short, a six-episode final season is not yet carved in stone.

Bloys says that ultimately the choice will be up to the showrunners, and HBO will respect their decision. If it were up to him, though, he admits that he would want a longer run.

In the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bloys says:

"I'll take as many as they want to do. If they give me eight, I'll want 10. But it's really up to them."

A lot of fans would readily agree. Although everyone would want a front-row seat to watch how the series would resolve all its tantalizing arcs, e.g. the ultimate ruler who gets to wield power over Westeros, nobody is wishing for the finale to come sooner, than later.
