Game of Thrones Season 7 Trailer Hits 61 Million Views In Its First Day Online

Game of Thrones will start its seventh season in the next two months, and the hype for the second to the last season of HBO's epic fantasy series grows stronger and stronger as the network starts its marketing campaign for the series.

HBO released the very first official trailer for the series online yesterday and now a new report from Deadline reveals that the preview's view count has just jumped to 61 million across digital platforms like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter in its first day on the internet. The trailer's performance has not only outdone HBO's viewing record but also the record of the television industry.

In comparison, the season 6 trailer for Game Of Thrones only accumulated 63.5 million views throughout its stay online, making the season 7 preview just a couple million short of surpassing the video's total view count.

Of course this may come as no surprise to fans. The series has been one of the biggest shows on television and with the series coming closer to an end, anticipation runs even higher.

Game of Thrones premieres on HBO on July 16 this year.
