Game of Thrones Season 6 Finale Finally Gets A Synopsis

After the eight episode of Game of Thrones Season 6 aired, HBO had announced that they wouldn't release a synopsis for the last two episodes of the season. This is done so fans would have less information about how the plots would unfold. However, HBO just released brief descriptions of both episodes while submitting Emmy nominations. The description for Episode 9, Battle of the Bastards was "Terms of surrender are rejected and accepted," which was a reference to the events in Meereen, and here's the synopsis for the season 6 finale, Winds of Winter, "Cersei faces her trial."

Fans would agree that the synopsis for the season finale is straightforward. HBO wanted to make sure that they didn't give away any major spoilers from the finale; however, a detailed synopsis of Winds of Winter on the IMDb page has been posted, but this is probably not officially from HBO. Check it out:

Cersei stands trial for her crimes, while Jaime celebrates victory with Walder Frey at The Twins. Davos confronts Jon about Melisandre's actions, and Littlefinger reveals his intentions to Sansa. Meanwhile, Bran continues his quest for knowledge in the far North as "winter" finally arrives.

A lot of these details are obviously seen in the preview trailer, but the most interesting part of the synopsis is its last line as it talks about Bran continuing his quest for knowledge, which is most likely a reference to the Lyanna Stark scene in the Tower of Joy. Will that scene finally confirm the R+L=J theory?

The Game of Thrones Season 6 finale will air Sunday, June 26 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
