Game Of Thrones Episode Director Explains Why Jon And Dany’s Love Scene Was Made Simple

Warning: This article contains spoilers to Game of Thrones Season 7 finale.

Game of Thrones seventh season might have been building up the romantic tension between Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), however fans felt like the love scene shared between the Dragon Queen and the Bastard King of the North in "The Dragon And The Wolf" didn't quite pay off.

Not only did Bran's (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) juxtaposed narration of Jon's true parentage result in conflicted feelings, but the sex sequence between the two didn't quite seem as complicated as the other love scenes in Game of Thrones.

Speaking in an interview with Indiewire, Jeremy Podeswa, the season finale's episode director, offers up an explanation why "The Dragon And The Wolf" didn't add too much heat into Jon and Dany's sex scene.

"It was shot very, very simply. It's basically just one steady push in shot to Jon and Dany and then that very important look between them at mid-level. And then a one-shot looking at Jon, then looking down at Dany. It wasn't about shooting a big lovemaking scene. Once they're making love, that's the story. There's no reason to kind of linger on that."

While Podeswa does have a point saying that sex really isn't the focus between Jon and Dany's story, it's understandable that fans would have expected a bigger bang. After all, this is a team up that some has been waiting for years, and most have been hoping for an epic love sequence. Guess it's time to scour the internet for some fanfiction that'll fill in the holes.

Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres sometime 2018 or 2019.
