Animation legend, Hayao Miyazaki has just recently announced that he's coming out of retirement to work on another feature length project for Studio Ghibli, and while a lot of anime lovers are as happy and as eager as ever to wait for the great release, it seems like one critic is anticipating the film to fail.

According to a report by Comicbook, the co-founder of Gainax Studios, the company responsible for award-winning mecha anime like series Neon Genesis Evangelion and Gurren Lagann, Toshio Okada, believes that Boro the Caterpillar won't be as big a hit as everyone expects it to be.

"This is Toshio Okada's February 2017 prediction, but I honestly think this could be a failure"

The also says that anything that Miyazaki works on now won't compare to the anime standard that he built back in his golden age at Studio Ghibli, because the legend is now past his prime. Apparently, a preview of the Boro the Caterpillar was aired on the Owaranai Hito Miyazaki Hayao NHK television special back in November last year, and Okada wasn't impressed.

Despite the criticism, Okada still likes the fact that Miyazaki came out of retirement, saying that the best way to dies is doing the things that you love to do.

"It would be OK for Hayao Miyazaki to also be like Osamu Tezuka and die while grasping a pen"

While a lot of fans may rant and rave over Okada's criticisms against Boro The Caterpillar and Miyazaki, the animator also has a point. Miyazaki can't work as much as he used to because of back problems, and given his health issues working on the film won't be the same. Hopefully, Miyazaki beats the odds and delivers another masterpiece.
