GOTG Vol. 2: Watch Director James Gunn Provide Movements For Baby Groot's Opening Dance

Fans who follow the BTS stories of Guardians of the Galaxy will know that Baby Groot's dancing movements in the end were lifted from director James Gunn's dancing, but Gunn has also provided the dance for the insanely memorable Groot dance sequence from the opening of GOTG Vol. 2.

Check out the side-by-side comparison:

It's kind of a fun easter egg that Gunn provides a more elaborate dance sequence this time around, and for the same character! I would imagine it would have to be pretty complicated to try and get Vin Diesel moving the right way, so James Gunn had saved the production a lot of time by doing all the dancing himself.

Out of a handful of memorable setpieces in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Groot's dance opening was probably one of the most memorable, topping that of Chris Pratt's dance from the first Guardians movie. I especially love how, despite being entertaining, it kind of sets the whole tone for the movie, and we also get introduced to all the principal characters in a fun way.

I don't know about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but I'm wondering how James Gunn plans on topping that Baby Groot dancing sequence. It was just cinematic gold.
