Fullmetal Alchemist Live-Action Film Sequel Confirmed

There's a reason why Japanese-made live-action adaptations of animes tend to be kickass renditions—the studios behind them know what to include and how to best portray it.

And while fears of bad portrayals and adaptations still resound in anime fans' hearts (especially those that had been tainted by Hollywood), there are a few lucky gems that make it out alive and then some.

The latest case in point is the live-action adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist, which had a few of its key parts showcased at the Anime Expo 2017. From the great reactions of fans who basically confirmed that the film was that good, it seems that this is a homerun for the franchise, so much so that a sequel has already been confirmed.

According to one attendee of the Anime Expo, Twitter user Nico_NVS there will be a sequel to the movie, and all the characters that we loved in the movie will be there:

This is great news, especially since the movie has yet to air later this year. Whether or not the studio knew that it had a hit in its hands or if it really felt that the franchise will take off regardless of sales, we won't really know. But it does give us hope that this would have been a planned and prepared adaptation, one that's far from the reaches of those bad eggs.

It also gives me hope for the Gintama live-action adaptation, which also had a nice surprise of a webisode that adapts the Mitsuba arc for a next-day showing following the film's theatrical release.

Here's to many more Japanese anime live-action adaptations.
