Forest Whitaker Says Black Panther Is Going To Take Fans “Into Outer Space”

Black Panther might give Marvel fans their first look at the inside of the city of Wakanda when it premieres in February this year, but Forest Whitaker has been saying that the highly anticipated superhero movie will also be taking viewers off to outer space.

Speaking in an interview with Variety, the award-winning actor praises Marvel's all-black comic book movie, saying that fans are going to see "action and things" that they still haven't been able to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"The action and things are things that we haven't seen. We're going to see, not only travel things, but things that take us into outer space and things that take us into the James Bond space. It's a really unique amalgamation of different things that come together in an exciting way."

That's not all. Whitaker also describes the film as a "cultural piece" that delivers a social message to Marvel fans.

"I think it's a unique piece. It's a cultural piece. I think people are waiting to find something new to be able to live in. And this superhero from Africa who's trying to fix the world is something people have not received before. I think Ryan is a great director, so there's always going to be some social conscience inside of it."

Black Panther is of course a unique superhero film. It's the very first all-black comic book movie that serves as T'Challa's first standalone film in the franchise.
