First Set Photo from Sonic The Hedgehog Movie

Sony's upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film has gotten mixed reactions from fans ever since it was announced, with many worried about the movie's use of live-action actors. With both James Marsden and Jim Carrey confirmed, the latter confirmed as Doctor Robotnik, it's going to need one hell of a trailer to impress fans who are going into the film cautious.

Well, the first set photo of the movie has been released and it features one of the game's most iconic locations. Except it's been morphed to fit into a movie and has been renamed in a way that might infuriate fans.

Remember Green Hill Zone? The iconic starting location of Sonic the Hedgehog 2? This movie turns Green Hill into a town with a "big heart," which is as generic as a city description can go. Still, it does speak volumes on what kind of movie this could be, although a trailer could change our minds, assuming it's a good one of course.

Apparently, Marsden is a sheriff who will team up with the town to save Sonic from a government pursuing him, with Robotnik presumably a part of that organization. Sonic himself has been described as a bit of a degenerate, though fans won't mind if he still enjoys chili dogs and running around.

Sonic the Hedgehog is slated for a December 2019 release.
