Fired Solo: A Star Wars Story Director Jokes With The LEGO Movie 2 Trailer

The first trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part was released yesterday, but some fans still haven't forgotten about the time the first film's directors were fired from Solo: A Star Wars Story. Of course, they haven't forgotten about it as well, apparently, as producer Phil Lord poked fun on Twitter with a clear reference to Solo: A Star Wars Story when he shared the first trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Check out his tweet:

Lord isn't directly joking about Solo but it's obvious that it's a reference to his former duties of directing a Star Wars standalone film alongside his partner Chris Miller.

The duo didn't direct The LEGO Movie 2; it was helmed by Trolls director Mike Mitchell but they serve as executive producers, and the script was written by Bojack Horseman co-creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg.

Neither Lord and Miller have spoken much about their time on filming Solo but they have been upbeat since they were replaced by Ron Howard, who took sole directing credit on the film, while the Lord and Miller were credited as executive producers for it.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is still showing in theaters. The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is set to release in theaters on February 8, 2019.
