Final Fantasy XV Devs Tease More In-Depth Content for Upcoming DLC Episodes

Final Fantasy XV has been dubbed by many as the game that won't end and the most recent announcement regarding four more DLC episodes didn't help matters. That isn't to say that there aren't people excited about these additional DLC episodes but seeing a single-player RPG get this much support post-launch is a sight to behold, for better or worse.

Despite starting off on a semi-negative standpoint, it looks like Square Enix is planning to make the next four DLC episodes more in-depth and interesting. The three episodes that were apart of the season pass were serviceable but felt like distractions that just happened to have important story elements.

In an interview with GameSpot, the developers in Square Enix teased having content with more depth than previous episodes. A point was made about how the first three DLC episodes did not have leveling up or character progression, teasing that the new DLC episodes would. This is an interesting way to improve upon what came before, that's certain.

"There's probably some things that we could apply to the next set. One thing in particular that stands out right now is that there wasn't any character progression in terms of leveling up in skills and things like that in the previous episodes. They were largely static and situational when it came to growth. That might be one feature that we can work its way into the next four."

As fans know, the next four DLC episodes will focus on Ardyn, Aranea, Luna, and Noctis. The fact that Noctis has an episode automatically makes this interesting, though Square Enix will have to work hard if they want to match the emotion that came from Ignis' DLC episode.

Final Fantasy XV is available now. The next four DLC episodes will be out by 2019.
