Filming For Gambit Pushed Back To March

After years of delays and directors leaving, it looks like Fox's Gambit spinoff is finally building some momentum. Gore Verbinski will be the film's director, while Channing Tatum is staying on as the title character. There are also rumors that Lizzy Caplan will be the film's female lead, exciting fans for her possible role. With all this good news, it might be understandable to hear that the film will reportedly be pushing back its production from February to March.

Omega Underground reported on the news, after previously stating that the film would start shooting in February. There has supposedly been confirmation on New Orleans, Louisana as the location for filming since this is where the character is from. It's a solid move and should make fans more curious about Tatum's accent for the character.

Despite the slight delay, the news is definitely much better than the previous troubles that haunted the film to no end. A number of directors left after being frustrated with undisclosed matters, though the success of Deadpool and Logan have seemingly changed things for the better. With New Mutants adopting a horror aesthetic, it looks like the X-Men films will have more creative freedom here on out.

Gambit is aiming for February 14, 2019, as its release date.
