Feel The Sci-Fi Nostalgia This September With Star Trek vs Transformers

If you've been following IDW's Star Trek comics, you'll know about some of the crazy crossovers that have been made. We've seen the Enterprise crew interact with characters from The Legion ofSuper Heroes, Doctor Who, and the Green Lantern Corps. Before IDW obtained the license, we all saw them team up with the X-Men. Twice.

However, their latest team-up comic might be the wildest one yet as IDW has announced Star Trek vs Transformers.

While previous team-ups have had realistic versions of the Star Trek characters, this particular crossover will make many feel nostalgic since Captain Kirk and his crew will be based on the 1973 cartoon. As if that wasn't nostalgic enough, the Autobots and Decepticons are from the beloved 1984 animated series.

Revealed by io9, the comic will be a four-issue mini-series and will be helmed by writers John Barner and Mike Johnson, with Phillip Murphy providing interior art. Murphy has managed to capture the art of both animated shows well and it will be interesting to see these styles clash in the comics.

The series will begin in the Star Trek universe, when the U.S.S. Enterprise answers a distress call on the edge of Klingon Space, only to find a dilithium mine under attack from 20th century-era jets and helicopters. When a certain red truck shows up to lend a hand, however, Kirk and the crew discover that there's more than meets the eye to their new vehicular friends and foes.
