Fandango Offering A 35mm And Non-3D Imax Screening Of Star Wars: The Last Jedi

It looks like Star Wars fans have the option of watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi in the traditional 35mm format this year.

Fandango's page for the upcoming Star Wars sequel trilogy installment has just updated its format offerings and it seems like the Force Awakens sequel will also be screened in 35mm along with the IMAX format that skips the 3D option.

Allowing visitors to select the different formats upon which a fan can view the film, Fandango offers formats like the 35mm, Digital 3D, IMAX, and of course, IMAX 3D. While the 35mm presentation is rather similar to the digital format screened in most theaters, the traditional format makes use of actual film, giving fans a retro kind of feel.

Star Wars fans interested in watching the 35mm format have to be warned however that the traditional film format is only good to see if you're watching the film unspool for the very first time, because film decays rather quickly. Passing film through a projector exposes it to dust and introduces scratches on the film, diminishing the quality of the movie's viewing experience.

There hasn't been any official announcement on when The Last Jedi's tickets are finally going to go on sale, but word has it that the tickets might be released along with the first full trailer for The Force Awakens sequel on Monday, October 9. Let's just wait and see.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres December 15, 2017.
