Fallout 76 Won't Have Cross-Play Between PS4 and Microsoft Systems

When it was announced that Fallout 76 would have online multiplayer it garnered a mixed reaction but there were definitely gamers excited at the possibilities. Teaming up with friends to explore the wasteland does sound like fun, even if the number of people online won't be too many. However, Sony has struck again and there will be no cross-play support between the PS4 and PC or Xbox One.

The news was announced by Todd Howard himself via German gaming publication GameStar (via CNET). When asked if there would be cross-play between the PS4 and Microsoft gaming systems, Howard said there wouldn't be and essentially blamed Sony for it.

"You cannot do cross-play in 76. We'd really love that but right now we can't. Sony is not as helpful as everyone would like."

Unfortunately, this isn't the only time Sony has decided to not play with others. The company infamously gave an emphatic no when asked about joining Nintendo and Microsoft for cross-play on Fortnite. Minecraft also offers cross-play between Nintendo and Microsoft gaming systems, which Sony won't be joining either.

Simply put, this is a really poor move from Sony since it just makes them look selfish and reclusive. If it weren't for all the great exclusive games coming to the PS4, along with the ones already on the console, gamers would probably jump ship to either Microsoft or Nintendo.

Fallout 76 comes out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this November.
