Ewan McGregor Talks About His Time Doing the Prequel Trilogy and Appearing in Another Star Wars Movie

Ewan McGregor's portrayal of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the best things that happened to the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Apparently though, while the 45-year-old Scottish actor enjoyed his experience doing Star Wars films, he isn't as "interested" or fascinated by the franchise per se.

In an interview with Magic FM recently while doing press appearances for his new spy thriller Our Kind Of Traitor, McGregor was asked if he gets anxious when the subject of Star Wars is brought up. The actor answered:

No! Initially I go, oh yeah, I'm being asked about Star Wars again!

He added:

...why is everybody so interested in Star Wars?!

Asked if he felt there was any unfinished business with the beloved space opera series, McGregor answered:

No! I made three movies amongst however many others. And that's what they were to me, three movies amongst a bunch of other ones. I was very happy with them, I'm very happy to have been in them. I like that they were films that children could watch, for the first time in my career!
I was very happy to be in them, and that's where it ends for me. I don't have a burning need to do them again. Or indeed any sort of fascination for the movies that everyone else seems to have. I don't seem to have that – maybe because I've been in them? I've seen behind the curtain. It doesn't have the same sort of wonderment to me.

Well, that's certainly unfortunate news for fans, many of whom have been clamoring for an Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff film and trilogy since the actor hinted on such possibility in one of his interviews two months ago. The actor even had to clear up the rumors in another interview since the clamor was palpable.

In any case, he did say he would be happy to star in a spin-off film if Lucasfilm approached him, so there's hope yet of seeing McGrgor reprise his role as Obi-Wan.
