EA Claims Over 6 Million People Played Star Wars Battlefront in The Past 3 Months


Despite the general disappointment of the gaming community on DICE and EA's Star Wars Battlefront game, EA claims (via Eurogamer) that over 6.6 million people have played the sci-fi shooter on consoles and PC in the past 3 months.

EA reported its financial results for the three-month period ending on June 30, and according to the mega publisher, 6.6 million played the DICE-developed game. However, 2 of those 90 days were part of a free trial for the game. From May 13 to May 15, all players had the chance to play Star Wars: Battlefront Outer Rim content (Battlfront's second DLC expansion) for free, so it's likely that the majority fo the numbers came from that period.

Considering how the game is criticized for its lack of single-player campaign and space battles, this result is quite surprising.

A website called SWBStats gives an accurate insight about the number of people playing the game: about 39,722 were playing the game across PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (at the time of this publication).

Last month, EA revealed single-player modes for the game, but it's not the story-driven campaign that players are looking for. but I'm actually more interested in the Battlefront 3 project that's no longer considered a "Star Wars" project.
