Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Says Black Adam Won’t Be Appearing In Shazam!

No, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam won't be making any cameos in the DC Extended Universe's Shazam!

Speaking in an interview with Syfy about the upcoming films he has in the DCEU, The Rock confirmed that he won't be appearing anywhere in David Sandberg's upcoming Shazam! superhero movie. Back when Johnson first signed on to become Warner Brothers' Black Adam, The Rock was meant to be the main villain of Captain Thunder, however, The Rock gained a lot of prominence as an action star, and so the studio decided to give him his own Black Adam standalone instead. Sure, fans might have been secretly hoping that The Rock would have a quick cameo in Shazam! but according to the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star, Black Adam won't be in the film at all.

"I'm not in that one. It's Shazam and Black Adam, and with the way the DC universe, we should –in theory – meet up on the big screen. But who knows?" Johnson told the publication.

Black Adam's absence is definitely going to sound like a huge disappointment to comic book readers. The supervillain has been the archenemy of Shazam ever since he first appeared in DC comics, and everyone's been hoping that the two get to have a showdown on the big screen. Maybe in the Shazam! sequel fans will finally get to see the two face each other. Let's just wait and see.

Shazam! makes its big debut on April 5, 2019.
