There's a new controversy in the anime community. Earlier this week, the Dragon Ball franchise kicked off with a new anime update and a new manga chapter was also released. However, many fans became enraged as a Dragon Ball Super illustrator is being accused of tracing.
Dragon Ball Super artist Toyotaro recently posted a draft he sketched for a recent V-Jump cover. The illustrator revealed the line art he did of Goku for the latest issue of the magazine where the Saiyan was shown fighting a Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonist but the artwork made some fans angry. If you search "Toyotaro" on Twitter, you'd figure out why.
It didn't take long for fans to figure out why the artwork looked familiar. They accused Toyotaro of illustrating Goku by tracing an image from a Captain America comic. As you can see below, when the two images are laid on top of each other, you can see why, and fans think that the similarities are too close.
Toyotaro already deleted the original tweet of the artwork he posted but since it was shared in the Internet, nothing goes away forever as fans saved the post for memories. The illustrator hasn't made any official statements about the issue.
Dragon Ball Super is available for streaming on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami still airs the English dub of Dragon Ball Super on Adult Swim Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. It's also available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon. The upcoming Dragon Ball Super film will be released on December 14.
