Dora The Explorer Movie Nabs Ant-Man’s Michael Pena As Dora’s Father

It looks like James Bobin's Dora the Explorer movie is filling its cast list out nicely.

Yesterday, word came out that the Dora the Explorer live-action movie just found Dora's mother in Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria. Today, word has it that Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp supporting actor Michael Pena has just been cast as Dora's very own father.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has just closed the deal with Pena, and now the actor joins Longoria as the parents of Dora in the studio's upcoming family adventure film. Dora is to be played by Isabela Moner from Transformers 5.

While most of Dora's fans might remember her as a darling character who's spent most of her life exploring the jungle together with her backpack and her best friend Boots, Moner is to play a teenage version of the character whose main mission is to navigate the social jungles of high school.

Together with Boots, Dora is going to lead Diego and a patchwork of teens on what The Hollywood Reporter describes to be a "Goonies-esque adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization."

Based on this description, it seems like the upcoming Dora the Explorer movie is going to stay true to the adventurous spirit of its source material.

Paramount's Dora the Explorer live-action movie is currently in the middle of production in Queensland, Australia, and the film is set for release on August 2, 2019.
