Don't Expect Bucky Barnes To Return In Black Panther

The last time we saw Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier was when he was put back in cryo-sleep in Wakanda by the end of Captain America: Civil War. Since Marvel will be bringing us back to the fictional African nation this coming February, a lot of fans are hoping for the return of Bucky—sadly, it looks like it's not happening.

In an interview with Good Morning America at D23, actor Sebastian Stan simply confirms, "I am not in Black Panther," beside co-star Anthony Mackie (Falcon).

A lot of people would've hoped that Bucky would reconcile his differences with T'Challa and be a major player in Black Panther, but I think the movie wants to focus on T'Challa being able to handle himself first without any outside help from anyone.

Based on the possible trailer description for Avengers: Infinity War, Bucky could actually find himself resurrected and fighting alongside the Wakandan army. It hasn't been confirmed when the trailer will arrive or if the leak was actually true, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Marvel Studios' Black Panther follows T'Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.

Black Panther hits theaters Feb. 16, 2018.
