Doctor Who Star Peter Capaldi Wants Harry Potter Actress As His Replacement

This is going to be Peter Capaldi's last year as the Doctor in BBC's long running time-traveling science fiction series Doctor Who, and the British actor has finally decided to weigh in on who he'd want as his replacement on the popular show.

Speaking in an interview with Mirror after announcing his last run on Doctor Who, Capaldi revealed that he'd like the new face of the Doctor to be a woman, particularly Frances de la Tour, the English Harry Potter actress most known for her role as Miss Ruth Jones in classic television sitcom Rising Damp.

"The time felt right to bow out, to let somebody else play this wonderful role and I would like Frances de la Tour to be first female doctor."

Unfortunately according to the publication, insiders have teased that the next Doctor Who series' showrunner Chris Chibnall has been eyeing Andrew Buchan for the role as he had worked with the actor for more than five years. While Buchan would also seem like a good Time Lord, fans have been clamoring for a female Doctor for quite some time, and it would be lovely to see some change on the show. After all, Doctor Who has been dominated by white male men for decades, and it would be great to have a woman take the role this time around.

Doctor Who series 10 premieres on BBC 1 and BBC America on April 15 this year.
