Disney XD Releases LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures Featurette

Disney XD has just released a featurette giving new information about their upcomingLEGO Star Wars animated series, The Freemaker Adventures. The series is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It will focus on three siblings: Kordi, Zander and Rowan, a family of space scavengers who collect abandoned ship parts.

The EW reports further on the featurette. Producers Bill Motz and Bob Roth say much of the series will focus on the Kyber Saber, the first lightsaber ever built. Our heroes must try to collect the parts of the saber and rebuild it before Darth Vader and Emporer Palpatine do. Another new character featured in the series will be Naare, a Jedi with a "mysterious past" who will train Rowan in the ways of the Force.

The Freemakers will revisit familiar places, like Tatooine and Cloud City. We'll also see some familiar faces, like Maz from The Force Awakens. Nicolas Cantu, the voice of Rowan, says the series will combine the great storytelling of Star Wars with the humor you expect from LEGO.

The series is set to premiere Monday, June 20th. You can check out the featurette below.

I think it will be fun to see elements from The Force Awakens present in the time period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The series has some potential. What do you think of the series? Are you looking forward to it?
