Star Wars films may currently be on the spotlight following Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm, but that doesn't mean that it's the company's sole focus of development. Wait until construction of the Star Wars-themed lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World are over, and fans will probably find themselves wanting to go to these theme parks as many times as they watch the movies.

The Star Wars-themed lands are still at least two years away from opening, but preparations are continuous. Most recently, the company is doing tests on new droids that could interact qit guests.

A new interactive droid called Jake was recently spotted by YouTuber DAPs Magic (via WDW News Today) at Disneyland's Star Wars Launch Bay, and the droid looks pretty promising.

Check it out:

It's not clear whether the droid is being controlled by someone or has been programmed to take the route that it does in the video, but I'm assuming that it has some form of control over its movements, probably a program where it can sense oncoming objects so as not to crash into park dwellers. Aside from roaming the Launch Bay, at one point in the video, the droid also interacts with the control panel in the area, after which it beeped and moved about complete with lights.

The droid may not be perfect at this time, but the possibilities are great considering how fast technology advances as years pass.

Clearly, Disney wants fans and park dwellers to have the most authentic Star Wars experience, and they are spending a lot to make this happen.
