Disney Said to be Ready to Cut Ties with Pixar’s John Lasseter

The wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal had affected several Hollywood personalities with questionable sexual conduct, and one of those affected was Pixar head John Lasseter. Lasseter had taken a leave of absence after sexual misconduct allegations came out, and now news has it that Disney's Bob Iger is ready to drop him.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, an anonymous Disney veteran had this to say as Lasseter's return to the studio draws nearer:

"Bob [Iger] is about keeping peace in the family. He's not anxious to take on defending somebody with that kind of reputation."

Some insiders from the studio have also come out to say that Lasseter has become in some ways a bully in the studio, belittling employees and hogging credit ‘for years.' Not to mention, the women in Pixar are also said to have issue with him, with an employee saying:

"If John goes back, it will kill women in animation… The message will be so clear: Shut up and take it."

Before these allegations came out, Lasseter was one of the biggest names in animation, being the director behind several Pixar projects like Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and Cars. He's also been involved with several Walt Disney Animation films like Wreck-It Ralph, Moana, and Zootopia.

For now, a lot of animations fans seem torn with the way Lasseter has been outed in the past year. Though he was an important figure in modern animation, these allegations make it hard for people to think that he should be allowed to keep working with the studio—especially with all the women who have come forward about his behavior.

We still don't know where Disney stands with Lasseter's return, but hopefully we get an update soon.
