Disney Reveals New Footage from Rogue One, Civil War, Beauty and the Beast, & More at Shareholders Meeting

The Disney Shareholders Meeting was held earlier today in Chicago and apart from several details about the company's finances, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed several other clips on upcoming films of the company. They include scenes from Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, the live-action Beauty and the Beast, the next Pirates of the Caribbean, Zootopia, and most excitingly, Star Wars: Rogue One.

Thankfully, a Slash Film reader named Matthew Hansen at the meeting divulged what he saw on the Rogue One footage, as well as the other films.

For the Rogue One clip, he said:

Most of it was very quick. A shot of the black stormtrooper, possibly called Death Troopers as previously reported, another pic of that same style of helmet and armor but all chrome, reminiscent of Captain Phasma from The Force Awakens, an image showed two AT-ATs that had a slightly different look with the door panel on the side of the body painted a lighter beige color. And a couple cast photos were shown, one of Felicity & Diego Luna and another of Donnie Yen. The clip featured Felicity's character on what looked like the inside of a ship or shuttle with her arm up holding on and the hatch/ramp open behind her. I wish I could remember what she said as part of the sizzle but it went by too fast. The new stormtroopers looked great.
It all looked great, had a classic Star Wars/A New Hope look & feel. Bob Iger said that they didn't have footage but that it & Episode VIII had been filming as previously stated. I'm definitely more excited for the film since it will be set close to the classic trilogy time & like I said it definitely had a similar look/feel.

As we mentioned above, there's also a handful of other clips on upcoming Disney films.

ForBeauty and the Beast, the sizzle reel showed Belle (Emma Watson) wearing the classic yellow dress that the Disney heroine wore in the animated film. She was revealed running down the stairs. Hansen described her as "gorgeous and perfect as Belle."

As for Captain America: Civil War, Disney revealed an unfinished scene of Captain America and Winter Soldier being chased by Black Panther. The Civil War clip reportedly began with Bucky stealing a motorcycle by throwing off its driver while he was shot spinning on it. The Cap's car is then hit and he gets out of it and runs as the vehicle rolls behind him. War Machine appears and stops the three heroes and the scene finishes with T'Challa taking his mask off while he's caught. They call the prince of Wakanda "Your Highness" though. Then War Machine glances at Rogers and says "Congratulations Cap, you're a criminal!"

On Doctor Strange, it's quite quick, the site reports. There was no dialogue aside from a couple of brief shots. There's also quick shots of Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow for the new Pirates of the Caribbean. Then there's a clip of Zootopia, which will arrive in the U.S. this week.

It's also worth noting that Iger teased a little bit more about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story at the meeting.

He said the following:

It's our first original standalone Star Wars story. It's about a band of rebels who are plotting to steal the plans for the Death Star. The action takes place right before the events in the very first Star Wars movie, Episode IV, which was called A New Hope. And I can't wait for you to see it, it's in theaters this December.

Currently, Star Wars' official Twitter page hasn't revealed much details about the film other than it involves a band of resistance fighters on a mission to steal plans for the Death Star. Director Gareth Edwards also only described it as taking place between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope.

While not revealing so much, Iger's statement at least clarifies the specific setting of the film, which is "right before" A New Hope, the first time anyone has confirmed this. From the looks of it, I'm guessing they'll be the ones delivering the map to Princess Leia.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be release in theaters on December 16, Captain America: Civil War is on May 6, Doctor Strange on November 4. The following year, Disney will follow them with Beauty and the Beast on March 17, 2017 and Pirates of the Caribbean on July 7, 2017. Zootopia will be released tomorrow, March 4.
