Disney Reportedly Sets Production Schedule And Location For Live-Action Mulan

It looks like Disney's getting ready to start work on the controversial Mulan live action movie. Not only is the film reportedly scheduled to begin production early next year, the project has also settled on the film's locations.

According to a report by production index My Entertainment World (via Omega Underground), Disney is setting Mulan for production in January next year with the project set to take place in Australia, New Zealand and China. The production was originally scheduled to begin during the spring this year, and fans felt a bit anxious after work on Mulan had been stalled. This new report must give some relief, especially after Disney announced that it had pushed the release of the live-action adaptation back to an unknown date in 2019.

The Mouse House has a couple of open slots for that year with November 8 and December 20 yet to be taken by any of its film projects. It's likely that Mulan will fall on other one of those two schedules.

Mulan hasn't cast any of its characters yet, but with production on its way, announcements could be made soon. There are rumors that Disney sent out casting calls for bilingual Chinese actresses who could speak English and Chines back in 2016, and hopefully we'll see this once Disney makes their official announcement.
