Disney Increases Offer to Buy 21st Century Fox

It looks like the bidding war for 21st Century Fox and its properties will continue. After Comcast upped its offer to get Fox for US$65 billion, Disney decided to outbid them and is now willing to give US$71 billion for the company. Many expected the company to stay in this bidding war but no one expected them to raise the stakes this much.

This is US$19 billion more than the company's previous offering and is 10% more than the deal Comcast is hoping to make. Unless Comcast raises their price for Fox, even more, it looks like Disney might win this one. We'll just have to wait and see.

Comic book fans are hoping that the deal goes through so that we can get the Fantastic Four and X-Men in the MCU. It's much bigger than that though, with franchise properties like The Simpsons, Aliens, and so much more under the Fox banner.

Disney could make a lot of big money with all of these properties, though one has to wonder if it will be enough to make up for the US$71 billion they will be losing to outbid Comcast.

Expect a reaction from Comcast soon. Until then, it seems like Disney could end up being the winner.
