Disney Confirms Full Cast Of The Lion King Remake

News on the Lion King remake had gone quiet for a while, but now Disney confirms to us the full cast of Jon Favreau's CG-action reimagining of the movie.

Check it out:

We finally have confirmation that Beyonce will be playing the role of Nala and Chiwetel Ejiofor is indeed playing the villain Scar. What's interesting is, it looks like Scar's hyena posse will have a name change. Save for Shenzi, we have two new characters by the name of Azizi and Kamari. Seeing as both Eric Andre and Keegan-Michael Key are comedians, they'll most likely be playing the hyenas, but it's still possible for both of them to be completely different animals.

Just so you know, the hyenas in the original movie were named Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed.

The only returning original cast member will be James Earl Jones who is once again providing the voice for Mufasa. Personally I wouldn't be onboard with remaking something as classic as The Lion King, but Favreau has admittedly put together an impressive cast for this film. We'll just have to see how things turn out.

From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau's all-new "The Lion King" journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub's arrival. Scar, Mufasa's brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba's exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

The Lion King comes to theaters July 19, 2019.
