Disney CEO Bob Iger Himself Wants More R-Rated Marvel Sequels; Specifically Deadpool

The Disney/Fox acquisition is official, and though a lot of fans are happy that the X-Men are coming home to Marvel Studios, a lot of fans are worried that the Disney brand will meddle with the Deadpool franchise's R-rating. As it turns out, Disney CEO Bob Iger is fine with it, and he's actually looking forward to a more R-rated Marvel Universe.

According to Ben Fritz from the Wall Street Journal:

One problem that fans had with Disney was that it seemed to have watered down the Marvel Universe once they acquired it. When was the last time we saw Tony Stark as the womanizing alcoholic that he was in 2008's Iron Man?

Hopefully with Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds and his team are still free to do whatever they want with the franchise. After all, the R-rating is what made the movie so successful. I would hate for them to make the movie PG-13 down the line.

Hopefully we get some official announcement from Marvel Studios about the Disney/Fox merger. I'd hate for all this "X-Men and Fantastic Four come home" celebration to be pre-mature.

As for Deadpool, the sequel is set to come out June 1, 2018.
