Destiny's Iron Banner Returns At The End of December, Offers PlayStation-Exclusive Rewards

The Iron Banner competitive multiplayer mode is returning to Destiny on December 29. According to developer Bungie's blog post, the limited-time event will offer some PlayStation-exclusive gear to those who rack up enough Iron Banner ranks. In addition to the universal rewards – including Haakon's Hatchet auto rifle and Deidris's Retort shotgun – there will be three helms and three class items only available to PlayStation players.

The last Iron Banner featured the Clash game mode (6 vs. 6 deathmatch), but on December 29 Bungie will be returning to the the Control mode for the event. Regardless, I will probably get destroyed as usual, but the exclusive rewards seem like a good motivation to try my hand at the Iron Banner anyway.

The Iron Banner will go up mere hours after the Sparrow Racing League is taken down. I think think this is a good release strategy, because Destiny players don't like having to wait for small events, and players are more likely to stick around if they are given a constant influx of limited-time events. We'll keep you updated on any future events and updates for Destiny, and be sure to check out the Iron Banner when it goes live on December 29.
