Deathstroke Will Reportedly Be the Antagonist of the Next Batman Film

Deathstroke the Terminator will be the antagonist of Ben Affleck's solo Batman film, The Wrap reports. Ben Affleck teased the villain's appearance earlier and many thought this meant he would be in Justice League. But according to "an individual with knowledge of the situation", he's actually making a big splash in Affleck's self-directed movie.

Earlier today, Affleck posted a set video that showed someone in a Deathstroke costume walking towards the camera in an intimiating fashion as steam gushed from below. You can see the video below:

Affleck didn't include any commentary with the video, which led to much speculation. But now at least one of those questions ("where's he appearing") seems to have been answered. Of course, it's possible Deathstroke might debut in the Justice League before appearing in Batman.

Deathstroke the Terminator was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez and first appeared in The New Teen Titans #2. His real name is Slade Wilson. This one-eyed assassin has enhanced reflexes and a healing factor thanks to a serum. And yes, he was a big inspiration for Deadpool.

Deathstroke is an incredibly popular and prominent villain. He's been in the live-action TV shows Lois and Clark, Smallville and Arrow. He was introduced to many young fans (myself included) as a main antagonist in the 2003 Teen Titans animated series, where he was simply known as "Slade". He's also appeared in Young Justice and Beware the Batman.

What do you think of Deathstroke making a cinematic debut? I think it has the potential to be interesting, though it amuses be a bit considering Deathstroke started out as a villain for Dick Grayson, a.k.a Robin, and his team. Bruce is stealing his son's villains! Of course, Deathstroke eventually moved on to be a general Justice League villain in the comics too, so this is pretty true to the source material.

Are you looking forward to the upcoming Batman movie?
