Deadpool 2 Star Zazie Beetz Is Currently In Talks To Join Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker Movie

Warner Brother's Joker origin movie starring Academy Award-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix is gearing up for production and it looks like the studio's begun looking for the film's other cast members – one of which might include Deadpool 2''s Zazie Beatz.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Brothers is currently in discussion with Beetz to join the Joker, the studio's non-DCEU origin film. A low-budget comic book movie that's expected to come out darker and grittier than the films in the DCEU, Warner Brother's burgeoning superhero franchise, Joker has been described as a serious character study of Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime following the tone of The King of Comedy and Taxi Driver.

Though the plot of the film is generally being kept a secret while the studio tries to get production on a roll, the publication says that if Beetz were to accept Warner Brother's offer, the Atlanta star would come to play the part of "a single mother who catches the interest of the man who will become the ‘clown prince of crime.'"

It isn't much of a surprise that Beetz has been approached for the role. The actress did a stellar job playing Donald glover's on-again and off-again girlfriend in critically-acclaimed FX television series Atlanta and she also did a great job in Deadpool 2.

Beetz would fit right in the Joker with her experience acting in both a comedy-drama series and a rambunctious and brassy superhero movie.

The Joker movie doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
