Deadpool 2 Star Ryan Reynolds Opens Up About Battling Anxiety And Depression

Ryan Reynolds might be enjoying so much success as 20th Century Fox's Merc with a Mouth, but even the Deadpool 2 star has demons of his own to fight with.

Speaking in an interview with Mr. Porter magazine, Reynolds opened up about depression, saying that he needs a bit of exercise every day because that's his way of dealing with anxiety and other issues.

"I tend to get pretty depressed and I have some issues with anxiety and things like that. [I exercise every day] otherwise, I start to get a little bummed. For me, it is more psychological. Exercise is a means of expelling those demons," the Deadpool 2 star told the publication.

Reynolds also opened up about the difficulties he faced when he was a child, saying that his father was a "tough guy" and that growing up in his house was never "relaxing or easy" and that he's had to learn how to deal with anxiety in so many different ways.

After years of dealing with anxiety, Reynolds says that he's also learned to turn anxiety into fuel.

"I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but anxiety is also a great fuel. I mean, my God, it's the anti-complacency pill, but it's also something that you need to manage," the actor explains.

It's pretty brave for Reynolds to open up about his anxieties and his depression. Not many people like to open up so easily about the demons that they have to face every day.

Deadpool 2 is currently screening in cinemas.
