Deadpool & Ryan Reynolds Win Big at the Critics’ Choice Awards

If there was anything to be happy for in 2016, it would have to be the presence of Deadpool movie in our midst. And at the Critics' Choice Awards, the movie and its main enabler, Ryan Reynolds.

The actor, who is pretty much the Merc with a Mouth personified, received his award at the 22nd annual Critics' Choice Awards, as he was honored Entertainer of the Year. According to People, Reynolds dedicated his award to patients who were battling cancer.

His character, Wade Wilson, also had cancer, and the actor feels like the audience who were in the same situation were able to see themselves in the same position.

"The character had cancer and some of the people that this character resonated with was sick kids. So I would like to dedicate this honor to the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the SickKids Foundation of Toronto, two incredible organizations that do so much for so many kids in need. They stated a fight and it's up to us to finish it."

Reynolds also won the Best Actor in a Comedy award for Deadpool, though that's not the only award that the movie garnered for the night. Deadpool itself had bagged the award for Best Comedy, which producer Simon Kinberg accepted, Entertainment Weekly reported.

"For once, Ryan is not going to talk. But I will thank the one person you couldn't thank, which is yourself. There is no Deadpool movie, character, universe without this guy. Thank you for creating him and bringing him to life."

While Deadpool 2may no longer be helmed by Tim Miller as director, I'm positive Reynolds' vision for the sequel will still shine. After all, he did fight tooth and nail for the movie for more than a decade. The writing won't be about the money at the very least—though we're pretty sure it will be able to get the same following as the first movie, if not more.
