David Bowie's 'Labyrinth' is Getting A Remake By 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Co-Writer

Two weeks after David Bowie's death, it was announced that Jim Henson's classic 1986 fantasy film Labyrinth is getting a remake for the 21st Century.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman will pen the script for the film. The original film starred Jennifer Connelly, who goes in a fantastical maze to save her younger brother, who was kidnapped by the Goblin King, played by Bowie.

Tri-Star Pictures has started a deal with Jim Henson Co. to bring this story to the big screen once again. We still don't know how the new film will be different, but hopefully, it won't stray too far from the original classic.

The movie was the last film directed by Henson, and it was written by Monty Python member Terry Jones and was exec produced by George Lucas.

The original film bombed at the box office when it was released, but over the years, it has become a cult classic, and it's one of the films we consider to be one of the greatest fantasy films ever created.

Who could possibly take David Bowie's role though? Bowie was great as the Goblin King, and finding an actor to take his role would be as tough as trying to find one who'd play the new Joker that Heath Ledger brillliantly played.
