Dave Filoni: Director Krennic Will Not Appear In Star Wars Rebels

Star Wars Rebels is up to its final season, and the show is bringing in more characters from Rogue One like Saw Gerrera and his partisans. Though the new trailer does have Moff Tarkin mentioning director Krennic, showrunner Dave Filoni says that we won't actually get to see him in-person on the show.

In an interview with EW, Filoni explains:

"I was imagining a shot with Vader and Krennic and the Emperor, but it's like having a cape convention with those guys. Then you have Tarkin and Thrawn, and it starts to look like a Legion of Bad Guys. When you get too many bizarre Star Wars villains together, I don't know if it works for me."

As of now, the closest we have to a Krennic cameo is his name getting dropped as well as the appearance of his specialist Deathtroopers on the show. Granted his main arc in Rogue One is trying to rise up the ranks and meet the Emperor, it would make sense that he doesn't mingle too well with the likes of Tarkin or Thrawn.

Speaking of Thrawn, the voice actor for the character is Lars Mikkelsen, who is the older brother of Mads Mikkelsen, the actor who played Galen Erso in Rogue One. Tarkin does mention something about Stardust in the trailers, and it would be cool to have Mads lend his voice as Galen for the series.

Star Wars Rebels season 4 airs on Disney XD on Oct. 16.
