Dave Bautista Says He will Quit GOTG Vol. 3 if They Don’t Use James Gunn's Script

Disney firing James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has caused a public outcry to have him reinstated. One of the more vocal protestors is Guardians actor Dave Bautista who is now threatening to quit if the studio decides to not use the script provided by James Gunn.

Speaking to ShortList, Bautista says:

"Where I'm at right now is that if [Marvel] don't use that script, then I'm going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me… I'd be doing James a disservice if I didn't."

Bautista may be the most vocal actor in the franchise defending James Gunn, but his co-stars have also come out to show their support. Michael Rooker even decided to quit Twitter.

For now, Bautista hasn't outright quit the project yet. He has said that he will do his job as his contract obligates him to. He said in a tweet:

"I will do what i'm legally obligated to do but [Guardians] without [James Gunn] is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o [James Gunn] just isn't GOTG. It's also pretty nauseating to work for someone who'd empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis. That's just how I feel. "

Rumors have come out that Disney is currently sitting on re-hiring Gunn for the project, but they're in no rush. So far, over 300,000 people have signed the petition to have Gunn re-hired. If you want to show your support for Gunn yourself, you can sign here.
