Darth Vader’s Killer Scene in Rogue One Was All Thanks To The Reshoots

Darth Vader's appearance in Rogue One was one of the most anticipated cameos in the massively successful Star Wars spinoff, however it seems like The Sith Lord's most climactic scene in the movie wouldn't have made into the movie if it weren't for the infamous reshoots of the film.

In an interview with Yahoo Movies, Rogue One editor John Gilroy reveals who close the film was to going on without the explosive Vader action scene. Reinforcing Vader's power as a Sith, the scene where Vader lights his saber in a blackened hallway and cuts down all of the rebels in the room has been hailed as the best Vader sequence in Rogue One, however had it not been for the reshoots, the sequence wouldn't be in the film at all.

"What was added — and it was a fantastic add — was the Vader action scene, with him boarding the ship and dispatching all those rebel soldiers," Gilroy told Yahoo Movies. "That was something conceptualized a little later."

While the news of reshoots on Rogue One had initially caused anxiety amongst fans before the film's release in December last year, it seems like the film's edits did a lot of good for the film. Sure Rogue One would have been alright without the last Vader sequence, however it definitely wouldn't have the same impact on fans.
