Darth Vader Actor for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Reportedly Revealed

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will introduce audiences to a new set of characters in that galaxy far, far away.

When the first trailer for the film was released last week, we saw new characters Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Ben Mendelsohn's villain, Forest Whitaker's bounty hunter-looking character, among others. However, everyone's favorite supervillain – Darth Vader – seem to be missing in on the action in the trailer. We all know Vader will be shown at some point in the movie, but the actor who will play the Sith Lord remains unknown.

Well according to Flickering Myth, British actor Spencer Wilding has already been cast to star as Vader in Rogue One. The site claims that they already knew the information since last year but the news was only confirmed recently.

It's also been reported that the 43-year-old actor has recited some dialogue on the set of Rogue One, which means Vader will have a speaking role. It hasn't been confirmed whether James Earl Jones will reprise his role as the voice of Vader, but it's perhaps no question that his voice as the villain is irreplaceable. He's reprised his role as the voice of Vader in Star Wars films multiple times that it would be unthinkable if another voice is heard behind the mask of the Sith Lord.

Wilding is known mainly as a stunt actor. He's appeared in a bevy of popular films such as Batman Begins, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Wrath of the Titans, and Guardians of the Galaxy. It makes me think that we could be seeing more stunt scenes of Vader in the Gareth Edwards-directed movie.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16.
